The Clean Earth Trust - Local Guernsey Charity limiting human impact on the environment.

The charity is looking for skilled and practical volunteers to join their community of repairers and fixers at The Repair Café. Whilst they work on finding a permanent residence, The Repair Cafe runs regular pop-ups across the island hosting sessions for the public to pop-in and learn how to fix or upcycle their pre-loved, worn-out or broken goods.
Ideally each volunteer will be able to attend one pop-up event per month which lasts between 2-4 hours and is held the first Saturday of every month (there are also weekly sessions for textiles on Wednesdays 12:00 - 14:00 and Saturdays 10:00 - 12:00).

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Attend the monthly Repair Café sessions at a variety of locations across the island
-Lead, guide and deliver repairs in any of the following areas;
small electrical appliances (e.g. Toasters, kettles, watches, lamps, radios, etc.)
household goods (e.g. picture frames, toys, small items of furniture, etc.)
textiles (e.g. clothing, bags, accessories, soft furnishings, etc).
specialist areas (e.g. jewellery, china, instruments, etc)
-Actively engage with enquiries and questions in the Repair Cafe Facebook Group (optional)
-Share onsite social media posts and stories to grow the reach of the Repair Café (optional)
-Be available for comment with local press (optional)

Experience and Skills Required:
-Have a strong passion for preserving our environment and the aims of The Clean Earth Trust
-Be experienced and comfortable fixing items, curious and persistent in finding faults and getting to the bottom of a problem
-Personable, friendly and comfortable talking to users and explaining the repair process
-Ability to coach users how to do a repair, if the participant would like to learn

It would be desirable for fixers to bring their own tools but this isn’t essential. The charity have a growing bank of tools donated from the community and can look to source specific items if required.

Volunteers must have own transport or a way to independently travel to events.
