Back to ResultsOur client is seeking an Assistant Network Fitter to support the maintenance and development of the gas distribution network. Reporting to the Assistant Network Lead, this role involves assisting the Network Fitter in delivering high-quality service, ensuring network safety, and supporting operational activities. This position requires a proactive individual willing to participate in emergency call-out duties on a rotational basis. Job Duties: Assist with mains replacement, new service installations, district governor maintenance, mains surveying, service disconnections, and other network-related tasks as directed. Support the response to public-reported emergencies (PREs). Carry out routine and non-routine maintenance work on the gas distribution network and associated equipment. Provide assistance in identifying and resolving hazards, as well as controlling and investigating gas leaks. Collect and report operational data related to the gas distribution network. Minimise disruption to customers while carrying out tasks efficiently. Work collaboratively with contractors, external agencies, and the public on-site. Participate in the emergency call-out duty rota on a rotational basis (one week in every four, subject to business needs). Job Requirements: Previous experience in a similar role or a relevant trade background is desirable. Understanding of gas distribution networks or utilities work is beneficial. Ability to follow safety procedures and risk management protocols. Strong teamwork and communication skills for liaising with colleagues, contractors, and customers. Willingness to participate in emergency call-out duties. Good problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving hazards. Physically capable of carrying out manual work in various conditions.
