Our client is seeking a qualified Commercial In-House Lawyer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role can be based in Guernsey, Jersey or the Isle of Man and focuses on providing legal and regulatory advice across a wide geographical scope, including the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, South Atlantic territories, and Diego Garcia. The successful candidate will advise on a range of commercial contracts and legal issues, support data protection compliance, and contribute to strategic projects across the group. Job Duties: Provide legal and commercial risk advice across all departments to identify and mitigate potential contractual and legal risks Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts including hardware, software licensing, IT support, consultancy and customer agreements Advise on and draft telecommunications agreements including interconnect, roaming and wholesale agreements Support contractual processes from RFP through to implementation, including managed services and reseller arrangements Assist in dispute management and litigation where necessary Draft and maintain legal documentation including standard terms and master services agreements Provide legal input into data centre and cloud services agreements Offer legal guidance on intellectual property issues Support group-wide data protection compliance, including drafting data processing agreements and advising on GDPR and equivalent legislation Work alongside the Data Protection Officer to ensure organisational compliance with data protection laws Contribute legal input to projects involving regulatory matters, such as licensing, telecom security, and customer complaint resolution Review legislation and assist with the preparation of regulatory notifications, submissions and responses Job Requirements: Qualified lawyer in the UK, Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man or equivalent jurisdiction Minimum of 6 years’ post-qualification experience Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills Experience in commercial legal matters In-house experience in the telecoms or technology sectors (highly desirable) Experience with data protection law and its practical application Familiarity with dispute resolution and litigation processes Experience in regulated industries, particularly financial services or telecoms (preferred) Strong communication skills with the ability to explain legal concepts to non-specialists Commercially aware, pragmatic and proactive in managing workload and stakeholder expectations Ability to manage a broad scope of responsibilities and competing priorities effectively Attention to detail and sound judgement What You’ll Love:You will join a forward-thinking and values-driven organisation at the intersection of telecoms and technology.
