Our client is seeking a meticulous and proactive Data Protection Assistant to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis in either Guernsey or Jersey. This role supports the Data Protection Officer in ensuring compliance with the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017, and other relevant privacy legislation. The successful candidate will contribute to managing data protection risks and implementing best practices across the organisation. Job Duties: Maintain accurate reports of data protection complaints, incidents, breaches, and corrective actions, identifying trends Assist in developing and implementing data protection policies and procedures Conduct regular audits and monitoring of data protection practices across departments Maintain records of processing activities (ROPA) Manage and respond to data subject rights requests including DSARs, erasure, restriction, and portability Liaise with internal teams to collect information and respond to subject access requests Support the delivery of data protection training and awareness programmes Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for high-risk processing activities Review contracts and Data Protection Agreements with third parties Support vendor due diligence processes related to data security and compliance Ensure timely and accurate responses to DSARs in line with regulatory requirements Assist in implementing process improvements to optimise workflow efficiency Act as a key contact within the Data Protection team for internal stakeholders Job Requirements: Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent experience Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality 1–3 years’ experience in banking, finance, or a related field Professional data protection qualification (e.g., Data Protection Foundation) is desirable Familiarity with information security principles and best practices Experience with interpreting regulatory requirements Knowledge of the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017 and GDPR 1–2 years’ experience in compliance, risk, or data protection roles Experience in handling DPIAs and managing data subject rights Proficiency in Excel, particularly for managing and analysing data What You’ll Love:Our client offers a collaborative and professional working environment, where data protection and regulatory compliance are deeply valued.
