Our client is seeking a HR Officer to join their Guernsey office on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave until the end of December 2025. This is a varied role that covers all aspects of the employee lifecycle, along with supporting the Office Administrator to ensure the smooth running of the Guernsey office. The role reports to the HR Officer based in South Africa. Job Duties: Assist with recruitment and selection, including sourcing and interviewing candidates Prepare contracts and manage onboarding processes, including induction and probation Manage the employee offboarding process Support performance management, development plans, and career progression Coordinate training requirements, including mandatory training Administer employee matters such as absence, holidays, and employment records Provide guidance and support to management on general HR matters Assist with employee relations matters, including disciplinaries and grievances Promote a positive working environment and support employee wellbeing Maintain awareness of employment legislation and statutory requirements Support the HR Officer and Managing Director with ad hoc HR and administrative projects Liaise with external partners, in collaboration with the Office Administrator, to ensure smooth office operations Monitor and maintain office supplies and equipment Ensure Health and Safety requirements are up to date Carry out any other duties required to support the success of the business Job Requirements: A relevant professional qualification or currently studying towards one, such as CIPD Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a HR Administrator or HR Officer role Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal Proven ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the business and with external partners High level of accuracy and attention to detail Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information in line with data protection regulations Proactive and capable of working independently and collaboratively Strong computer literacy Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours and business needs Consistently deliver work to the required business standard What You’ll Love:This is an excellent opportunity to step into a busy, hands-on HR role with variety and autonomy.
