Our client is seeking an Actuarial Trainee to join their Guernsey office on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Actuarial Manager, this role supports both the actuarial and finance functions, contributing to the production of financial results, development of tools and models, and preparation of reports for internal, regulatory and Group stakeholders. You will be expected to assist in analysis, risk identification and support business decision-making through accurate data handling and reporting. Job Duties: Prepare calculations for reserves, capital, surplus, forecasts and profitability Support the development and maintenance of actuarial models, implementing enhancements as advised Assist in preparing draft reports and recommendations based on financial analysis Capture, validate and analyse policy data for modelling and reporting Identify actual and expected sources of profit or loss through analysis Investigate financial trends, variances, and assumptions as directed Support risk identification and prepare reports with clear explanation and recommendations Provide technical actuarial assistance to internal and external stakeholders Collaborate with the wider finance team on overlapping functions such as data analysis and processing Develop computer-based tools to enhance efficiency across actuarial and finance teams Work closely with colleagues in Guernsey and across the business to support role delivery Report operational risks in a timely manner and contribute to a culture of strong governance Commit to professional learning and development, including progression through actuarial or financial exams Job Requirements: A-levels or International Baccalaureate including an A grade in Mathematics (minimum 260 UCAS points) Degree in mathematics, statistics or a similar field with a minimum 2:1, if a graduate Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities High level of accuracy and attention to detail with strong sense-checking capability Logical and systematic thinker with good time management and prioritisation skills Confident communicator with ability to explain complex ideas clearly Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build working relationships at all levels Experience or ability to learn Excel, including formulae and functions Willingness to develop skills in Power BI, Power Query and actuarial modelling tools Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Demonstrates a proactive attitude, able to work independently and as part of a team Interested in pursuing actuarial or financial professional qualifications What You’ll Love:You will join a dynamic and collaborative team where learning, growth and technical development are fully supported.
