Our client is seeking a highly experienced HR Manager to lead the Human Resources function across their retail operations, which include a department store and a franchise partnership with a well-known high street brand. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Guernsey, overseeing a team of HR professionals and reporting to senior management. The successful candidate will shape and deliver HR strategy, ensure compliance with employment legislation, and drive innovation across both businesses. This is a varied role combining strategic oversight with hands-on operational support to deliver real business impact. Job Duties: Develop and implement HR objectives aligned with commercial and operational goals Monitor and adapt HR priorities based on business needs and industry trends Manage HR budgets and ensure measurable return on investment Analyse the local labour market to forecast staffing needs Drive digital HR initiatives, including automation and self-service platforms Lead recruitment and retention strategies across both businesses Champion talent development and succession planning initiatives Provide day-to-day support and guidance to managers on employee relations matters Improve and standardise HR documentation and processes Manage and develop the HR team to deliver operational effectiveness Oversee payroll and benefits administration to ensure accuracy and compliance Ensure optimal staffing levels across departments to maximise efficiency Design and deliver learning and development solutions Coach managers on performance, development, and policy matters Apply employment legislation consistently and ensure manager compliance Offer a confidential and impartial advisory service to employees Job Requirements: Proven experience in a senior HR role, ideally within retail or a similar fast-paced environment Strong working knowledge of Guernsey employment legislation Experience managing HR teams and overseeing payroll functions Proficient in HR systems and advanced MS Office skills Strategic and operational HR management capability Excellent interpersonal, coaching and communication skills High level of cultural awareness and adaptability What You’ll Love:​​​​​​​Our client is proud of their long-standing heritage in Guernsey retail, combining tradition with innovation to deliver an engaging shopping experience.
