Our client is seeking a Trainee Financial Accountant to join their dynamic Finance team. This role is ideal for an individual who is partly or newly qualified in accountancy and may have gained experience within a financial services firm or an audit-related environment, looking to transition into industry. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the financial control systems within the organisation and assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts. Job Duties: Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts for the trading entity, including various reconciliations. Contribute to the preparation of annual statutory accounts in line with IFRS for the main trading entity and others within the group structure. Coordinate revenue collection processes, ensuring data accuracy and completion within defined timelines. Assist in the preparation of capital adequacy reports and ensure timely completion of regulatory submissions. Liaise with both external and internal auditors to ensure effective collaboration during audits. Calculate and reconcile the client money environment in compliance with relevant rules and regulations. Assist in preparing relevant tax computations ensuring compliance across various jurisdictions. Test and develop finance-related functionality within the core Avaloq system while monitoring the integrity of financial records. Maintain accurate financial records and documentation while ensuring procedures are well-documented. Support finance-related administration tasks and cover for Finance Officers as necessary. Respond to ad hoc financial information requests concerning management accounts. Job Requirements: Completion or advanced stage of completion in a relevant professional accounting qualification. Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting and month-end procedures. Proficiency in Excel and an understanding of accounting software and databases. High accuracy skills with the ability to maintain precision under tight deadlines. Excellent numeracy, analytical, and problem-solving abilities alongside strong attention to detail. Effective communication skills for concise information sharing. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, both internally and externally. Eagerness to learn and develop within a financial services environment. Good understanding of relevant regulations, including capital and liquidity requirements in regulated businesses. Familiarity with FCA CASS regulations and investment business regulatory knowledge (GFSC, JFSC, and IOMFSA) is beneficial.
