Our client is seeking a collaborative lawyer with post-qualification experience in non-contentious trust matters to join their dynamic International Trusts and Private Client (ITPC) practice in Guernsey. This unique ITPC practice operates as a single, integrated team across three offices, combining exceptional non-contentious and advisory skills with specialised expertise, including Private Wealth advisory, structuring, and dispute resolution. In this full-time role, you will focus on Guernsey matters, collaborating closely with colleagues in dispute resolution and corporate teams on private funds and corporate structures for private clients. You will be actively involved in day-to-day ITPC matters and business development activities under the supervision of a Partner or senior lawyer, enjoying high levels of client contact and responsibility in a supportive team environment. Job Duties: Obtain clear instructions from clients, analyse points of law, and provide expert legal advice while preparing relevant documentation for Partner review. Review and comment on documentation from third parties using a thorough working knowledge of legal principles, laws, and regulations. Ensure administrative tasks are completed on each matter following internal procedures, including conflict searching, issuing terms and conditions, engagement letters, due diligence, matter opening, time recording, and billing. Manage your workload effectively and assist junior fee earners, regularly reviewing their progress and escalating any concerns to the relevant Partner. Organise queries to ensure Partners' time is used efficiently, seeking to identify your own solutions to problems. Carry out discrete tasks thoroughly and efficiently to the required quality standard and within client recoverable timeframes. Share expertise to enhance the competence of team members and build the firm's overall technical and professional capabilities globally. Actively participate in team development and marketing, including business development activities. Take responsibility for your continuous professional development while meeting local CPD requirements. Promote and demonstrate the firm's values at all times. Job Requirements: Hold a Solicitor or Barrister qualification, ideally gained within a common law jurisdiction, with a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience in a relevant practice. Ideally STEP qualified or have a desire to study towards this qualification. Demonstrate strong organisation, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines. Understanding of good time recording practices and file management skills, including providing helpful updates to the Partner on progress, regular billing reviews, and WIP management. A proactive approach to the working environment with a willingness to develop skills and update legal knowledge through additional training. Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within the direct and wider teams.
