Back to ResultsOur client is seeking a Money Laundering Compliance Officer based in Guernsey for a full-time position. The successful candidate will be appointed by the Board and will play a vital role in monitoring compliance with regulations, legislation, and standards concerning money laundering, financing of terrorism, and proliferation financing. The role demands a significant entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to collaboration, aiming to drive the business's growth and deliver a commercial impact. Job Duties: Monitor the firm's compliance with its Financial Crime policies, procedures, and controls, and periodically report to the board. Oversee the monitoring and testing of AML, CFT, and CFP policies, procedures, controls, and systems to assess their appropriateness and effectiveness. Devise and maintain a schedule of monitoring activity based on risk, tracking outcomes, and resolving issues. Ensure that monitoring is executed in a timely, robust, and comprehensive manner. Raise any matters of concern or non-compliance identified through monitoring. Assist process owners and relevant staff in understanding and remediating identified issues where necessary. Establish and maintain appropriate procedures and controls to mitigate risks arising from compliance monitoring and to remediate issues promptly. Periodically report to the Compliance and Financial Crime Committee and the Board on compliance matters, including testing results and any issues that require attention. Assist the Chief Compliance Officer and the Board in reviewing, analysing, and updating the Business Risk Assessment, ensuring appropriate controls are monitored. Support the compliance function in delivering training on financial crime and regulatory matters. Collaborate with Risk, Operational, and Business functions to ensure control effectiveness is tested and improved when necessary. Job Requirements: A mix of risk, compliance, and financial crime skills, knowledge, and experience; priority will be given to candidates with compliance and financial crime expertise. Previous experience within the banking sector is essential. Several years of experience in compliance and financial crime within the financial services sector. A compliance qualification (ICA or equivalent) is preferred, or a willingness to obtain one. Methodical, thorough, and attentive to detail, with the ability to analyse and process issues at both a high and detailed level. Adept at analytical and critical thinking. Ability to maintain a client-centric approach in day-to-day operations. Strong client focus, adhering to the risk framework. Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for effective collaboration with colleagues.
