Our client is seeking a Fibre Installation Assistance Engineer on a fixed-term contract until 31 December 2026, based in Guernsey. The role entails working 37.5 hours per week, providing crucial support to the team of Installation Technicians responsible for installing Fibre Optic Broadband and Phone services across the region. The successful candidate will deliver ‘on demand’ services to the Fibre Installations Team and will be required to work at heights and assist with roadworks signing and guarding, cable pulling and installation, drilling and cable running. Please note that this role includes working Saturdays on a rota basis and preparing to hold a valid driving licence is essential. Job Duties: Set up, manage, and dismantle roadworks signing and guarding as required for Fibre installations. Manage traffic during customer installations. Rodding ducts and pulling cables into customer properties. Climb poles and assist with overhead cable installations. Secure and climb long ladders or roof ladders. Oversee cable removal and replacement. Run and secure fibre cables to customer properties. Splice fibre optic cables. Drill cable exit or entry holes. Understand and comply with the licence and other regulatory rules applicable to the position. Adhere to the Data Protection Law relevant to the position. Comply with Health and Safety responsibilities as defined in the company Safety Policy. Follow safety procedures and safe working policies. Undertake relevant security awareness training covering information security, data protection, financial crime, and payment card data. Report any information security incidents as per the incident reporting process. Hold a satisfactory Basic Police Disclosure due to the nature of the role. Job Requirements: A current category B driving licence. Comfort working at heights (telegraph poles or house fascias/gables). Ability to safely protect oneself, colleagues, customers, and the public. Proficient in following working practices and procedures. Basic knowledge of cabling systems and techniques is desirable. Experience in customer service or operational environment is desirable. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Well-organised and methodical approach to work. Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work. Calm and controlled under pressure. Capability to work independently and as part of a team in various environments.
