Our client is seeking a temporary Customer Engineer to join their team in Guernsey on a full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week. This role is crucial in delivering installation and fault resolution for fibre and copper leased line, private circuit, data, and voice services to residential and business customers across the Bailiwick of Guernsey. The successful candidate will engage with homes, offices, data centres, industrial parks, and small business complexes, ensuring service delivery is conducted in a timely and professional manner. In this evolving technical environment, the engineer will work closely with various teams, including the customer engineering and sales teams, to maintain high standards. This position also involves coordination with suppliers and customers to facilitate installations and maintenance operations. Job Duties: Maintenance and installation of fixed-line broadband and telephone services on both fibre and copper networks. Installation and maintenance of business services and associated Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) on fibre and copper-based infrastructure. Maintenance of public telephone kiosks as required. Installation, maintenance, and demonstration of fixed and mobile Lifeline products as required. Installation of underground and overhead plant, including telegraph poles. Installation and maintenance of leased line business circuits, ISDN and SIP services, and associated CPE. Delivery and coordination of network cabling (copper & fibre) between data centre racks and patch areas as required. Fibre optic cable work, including fusion-splicing. Coordination, planning, and communication with suppliers or customers for installations and maintenance operations. Maintaining task and fault lists and providing professional responses for customer orders and support cases in collaboration with the team supervisor. Remote support for engineers on Alderney and Sark, with occasional travel for installation or faults on outer islands. Completing additional work/repair worksheets as necessary. Providing out-of-hours support for SOC/customer services’ leased line, voice, and data centre services. Proper use of mobile devices, laptops, PCs, and associated applications. Maintaining company vehicles in a clean and safe condition. Job Requirements: Technically skilled or demonstrated ability and willingness to reach this level. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Willingness to work collaboratively with internal and external customers. Proven customer service skills. Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work. Awareness of the telecommunications market and customers. Desire to learn new technologies and processes in a constantly evolving environment. Flexible approach to work, including occasional out-of-hours requirements. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Current Category B driving licence.
