Back to ResultsOur client is seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to join their Legal Team, providing expert legal advice across the organisation. This full-time position involves supporting various aspects of regulatory activities, policy creation, and legal processes. The successful candidate will play a critical role in protecting the reputation of the financial services sector and ensuring high-quality regulation within the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Job Duties: Provide comprehensive legal advice, including drafting correspondence and reviewing documents, reports, contracts, and agreements. Support the disclosure and legal privilege review processes, offering advice and managing requests. Interpret and apply statutory requirements, providing guidance to regulatory staff and stakeholders. Contribute to supervisory and regulatory actions, including formal enforcement measures. Assist with drafting and amending legislation, rules, regulations, policies, and agreements. Offer pragmatic decision-making in complex legal matters. Contribute to projects that develop legal precedents, processes, and team effectiveness. Provide training to new staff members. Participate in and support internal project boards and panels. Assist with court and litigation matters, including drafting and reporting on cases. Communicate effectively across all forums, tailoring information for various audiences. Assist with press releases, articles, and third-party information requests. Liaise with licensees, regulators, professionals, and public members to foster positive relationships. Represent the organisation at meetings and industry events. Negotiate effectively in professional and regulatory contexts. Take personal responsibility for managing workload, prioritising tasks, and adapting to changing priorities. Build strong relationships with stakeholders and demonstrate teamwork. Stay updated on legal, technical, and regulatory developments through training, reading, and industry engagement. Job Requirements: Qualified and holding a current practising certificate as a Lawyer in the United Kingdom, Commonwealth, or other common law jurisdiction. Strong ability to provide clear, concise, and accurate legal advice. Excellent negotiation, communication, and written skills. Proven ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to shifting priorities. Experience in managing relationships with diverse constituencies and stakeholders. Commitment to maintaining a high standard of work with attention to detail.
