Back to ResultsA leading independent financial services provider is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its central General Counsel team in Guernsey. Operating in an onsite role, this senior position serves as the primary legal adviser to local boards while collaborating across global jurisdictions to deliver practical, commercial, and risk-based legal support.
You will advise local boards on legal, fiduciary, regulatory, and governance matters, assist with professional indemnity notifications and complaints, and support privilege management in board discussions. Reporting to and working alongside the General Counsel, you will manage external legal spend, supervise junior legal team members (including Junior Legal Counsel and Paralegals), and handle contract reviews, contentious issues, and cross-border strategic initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a qualified lawyer (Guernsey, Jersey, England & Wales, or equivalent common law jurisdiction) with at least 4 years' PQE. You must possess strong technical ability, sound judgement on escalation and legal risk, and experience in fiduciary, trust, corporate, or financial services. Strong drafting skills, team leadership capabilities, and the confidence to advise senior stakeholders and boards are essential.
