Back to ResultsCreated to grow alongside the festival, this new position offers the chance to build a varied and rewarding role for someone with experience in the arts, events, or publishing and a genuine enthusiasm for literature, culture, and delivering exceptional events.
As Deputy Festival Director, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Festival Director across programming, operations, volunteer management, sponsorship, and the ongoing development of the festival. Working closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager, you will help ensure consistency across programme content, lead the growth of the Patron and Member schemes through recruitment and engagement, manage member communications, and deliver an exceptional supporter experience. You will also assist with budget monitoring and contribute to financial reporting as required.
The successful candidate will have proven experience and a genuine interest in the arts, events, publishing, or festival management. You'll be confident coordinating staff and volunteers, highly organised, and able to manage multiple priorities with exceptional attention to detail. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, together with the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
This is a flexible, part-time opportunity offering up to 500 hours per year, with the majority of hours worked between September and May. Some evening and weekend working will be required during the festival period.
